Hey Guys,
Today I am going to share my thoughts on the Jaclyn Cosmetics Poutspoken Liquid Lipsticks and Lip Liners. I wasn't able to grab any during her initial launch because they sold out in minutes. However, I was able to grab a few during her restock a few weeks ago. Both products are currently only available on the Jaclyn Cosmetics website but will launch at Ulta in May. I have been trying these products out for about a week and am ready to share my thoughts with you. Keep reading to learn more about the products, see swatches, and my overall opinion of them.
Jaclyn Cosmetics Poutspoken Liquid Lipsticks $20.00
Here is what is said about this product on the Jaclyn Cosmetics site:
"Stand out and be Poutspoken with these long-wearing, luxe matte shades. Our buildable formula features breakthrough technology to give you unstoppable color that stays put on your pout. In one swipe, you get creamy, high-pigment color that dries down to a gorgeous, long-lasting matte finish. As a lover of matte lipsticks, Jaclyn wanted to create a matte liquid lipstick that not only looks beautiful but feels moisturizing and comfortable all day. That’s why this decadent formula is packed with hydrating ingredients like synthetic beeswax, vitamin A, vitamin E, and avocado oil. Poutspoken Liquid Lipstick features a soft cake batter scent, that’s sweet yet subtle."
Be Brave - nude lavender
Truth - sweet rosy beige
Imma Cancer - nude hazelnut
On to my thoughts:
I have very mixed feelings on these liquid lipsticks. I really like the packaging and think its sleek and sophisticated. The scent is really nice too. Its not too sweet but there is a subtle scent of vanilla or cupcake maybe. When it comes to the colors, I feel like they are a lot different than described. I thought Be Brave was going to me more of a purple tone since its described as a nude lavender. The swatches I've seen have it looking more purple mauve than lavender. However, on my lips it looks way more rosy mauve which was kind of disappointing. With Truth, I thought it was going to be a more rosy color since it is described as a sweet rosy beige. On my lip it definitely pulls more of a peachy nude with maybe a hint of rose. Imma Cancer is said to be a nude hazelnut. I believe Jaclyn called it a neutral toned brown. On me, it does pull a little warm but is the closest to its description. I want to note that when you are trying these colors on make sure you are wearing makeup! I first tried them on without makeup and you really can't get a full idea of how they are going to look until you have your whole face done. Even though the colors are not what I expected them be, I still do like all three colors.
When it comes to the formula I don't love it. They are pigmented and light weight but they are a bit drying on me. What bugs me even more is that they settle into the lines on my lips SO BAD. I tried to exfoliate and make sure that my lips were hydrated and it still happened. I actually to the website and read a TON of reviews to see if anyone else had this issue. There was an overwhelming majority of positive reviews with only a handful that had a similar experience as me. In general, I do prefer a more velvet finish but I haven't experienced this happening with many other liquid lipsticks. On a more positive side of things, this liquid lipstick works very well with masks and doesn't transfer. I don't need much touch up when drinking but it did wear off quite a bit with eating. I found that it is better to take it completely off and reapply after eating. Another thing I found is that it doesn't layer that well when still wet. It gets heavy feeling and more creasy on me. I think one or two layers max is the best. I also suggest not to touch your lips together until the liquid lipstick dries.
Jaclyn Cosmetics Poutspoken Lip Liners $18.00
Butter Pecan - tan beige
Here is what is said about this product on the Jaclyn Cosmetics site: "Line and define your perfect pout with this super creamy, high-pigment pencil. Developed to pair with Poutspoken Liquid Lipstick, this precise pencil easily glides to give you a clean, sculpted lip contour in a soft matte finish."
On to my thoughts:
I was only able to snag one of these because there was not a full restock. There were a few more that I wanted to pick up such as Coffee Cake, Caramel Latte, and Bourbon. In terms of packaging, I do prefer the twist up lip liners over sharpen. The main reason being convenience. That being said, I really like this lip liner! It feels creamy and pigmented and blends out nice. I do agree with the color description of this. I think that I might like Coffee Cake better than Butter Pecan as this one pulls a little more warm that I wanted. However, I don't think Coffee Cake was available in the restock. These are great liners and I do recommend them.
Here are swatches of the liquid lipsticks and lip liner:
L-R: Be Brave, Truth, Imma Cancer, and Butter Pecan
Overall, I was a bit disappointed in the liquid lipsticks. I wanted to love them so much but for me they are just okay. The colors are nice jut a little different than I was expecting. I am not in love with the formula and do prefer other liquid lipstick brands over this one. I hope that Jaclyn comes out with a velvet finish because I think I will like that more. I think that if you are a fan of matte liquid lipstick and are looking for something that won't transfer onto your mask you may like these. Not many people have had the same experience as me and there are tons of positive reviews from other people. In terms of the liners, I do really like the one I tried and plan to pick up more. Jaclyn will be launching complexion products next week. I will be interested in hearing peoples thoughts on those. I think in general I may wait to buy more Jaclyn Cosmetics products until they are launched at Ulta.
