Today I'm going to share my basic staples that I think every woman should have as part of their summer wardrobe. I will share links to my favorite pieces and make sure to include a few different options in each category. Keep reading to hear more!
Cut Off Shorts
It gets extremely hot and humid here in the summer so as much as I hate my legs I NEED to wear shorts. Over the years I've gained some weight and I'm no spring chicken so I prefer shorts that are a little bit longer (and don't show your butt cheeks). Below are some that I picked up recently that I love. I also have a pair from Express that are awesome but I couldn't find a similar pair this year. The long 80's style shorts are a thing now which I'm not a fan of.
Tie Front Tank
I think these are so cute and you can easily dress them up or down whether it be with a pair of jeans or a cute skirt. I also think they look great with all different body types. Amazon sells the below tie front tank and has it in SO many colors! I got a small as it runs big.
Basic Tank Bodysuit
I know not everyone is a fan of bodysuits but I love them! I think they are sexy and I like that you dont have to worry about your shirt coming untucked or your underwear sticking out. I have TONS of bodysuits but below are some of my favorites.
Light Weight Loose Style Shorts
I wasn't sure about these style shorts at first but I got a dressy pair last year and think that they are so cute and comfy! They come in so many different materials and again I think they look great on all diff body types.
Maxi Dress
These are my go to dresses for work in the summer. They are just so easy and comfy. There is such a huge array of styles and patterns of maxis out there. You can get some really basic plain maxis and some fancier ones as well. I tend to stick to more simple styles since my style overall is pretty basic. You can also easily dress them up with some wedges and jewelry or dress them down with some flip flops.
Knee Length or Midi Dress
On REALLY hot days I prefer to wear a shorter dress to work. My office is pretty laid back when it comes to work attire. As long as you look put together they aren't too strict with what you wear. Of course I still need to wear a dress that is work appropriate. Below are some simple cotton dresses that aren't TOO short or too revealing.
Wrap Skirt
I am not a huge skirt person but I do have a few I like. I recently got the below skirt from Colin for my birthday. I think this is a really great piece to have in your collection for the summer and spring. Its a transitional piece that's light weight and again you can dress it up or down. This specific wrap skirt comes in SO many different colors and prints. I have my eyes on the leopard print skirt next!
Kimonos
These are another piece that not only looks great on any body style but also you can easily dress them up or down. They are really light weight which makes them perfect for the summer. There are also so many styles out there.
Flip Flops
I always HATED the thong sandals/flip flops. They plastic Old Navy type ones hurt my feet so I never gave them a chance. Then one of my family members introduced me to FloJos. They are literally SO freaking comfy! I wear them almost every day and if you are lucky you can snag them at TJ Maxx for super cheap. I am never able to find my size but they have them on Amazon and they are SO worth the price!
Gladiator Sandals
These are my go-tos when I want to dress up an outfit without wearing heels. They are so comfy and again you can get them in so many different styles. I have the Soda ones below in black and brown and I wear them alot!
Wedge Sandals
I feel like wedges are the heels of the summer. Most are very easy to walk in and come in all different styles. I had 2 pairs of Merona Zip Front Espadrille Wedges that I got 5 years ago at Target that I fell IN LOVE with! They were SO similar to the Michael Kors Zip Up Wedges but less than half the price. I wore those wedges legit every time I went out. I had a black pair and a tan pair. Eventually they started to fall apart and when I went to by them again I found out Target no longer sells the Merona brand! I was crushed. For the past few years I have managed to find them on Poshmark for great prices. I even bought back ups! Below are some similar styles to my beloved Merona Wedges.
These are some of my favorite staple pieces for the Summer months! I know not everyone is going to love the same pieces as me but I hope I gave you some inspiration for your summer wardrobe!
