Hey guys,
My blog has been strictly about beauty and fashion for the past 6-7 years and I've decided to switch things up a bit. While I still plan to mainly talk about beauty and fashion I want to incorporate some lifestyle posts into it as well. Yes, beauty/fashion is a huge passion of mine but I also love home decorating, food, and working out. From time to time I am going to post some different content on my blog. It might be a recipe that I really loved or a home fashion haul or something workout related.
Today I am going to share some of my favorite quick workouts that I do at home that do not require any equipment. I have more workout equipment than your average person. I have a bunch of Olympic weights and a Concept 2 Rower left from my ex husband. I also have a kettle bell, a sled, and a treadmill that I bought off of Craigslist. I have a small one car garage where most of my equipment lives and where I work out half of the time. While its easy to work out in my garage in the summer, the floors are not finished and I still park my car in there so it can get pretty dirty in the winter. Because of that and the fact that it gets pretty cold in there in the winter, I have found some quick HIIT (high intensity interval training) workouts online that I can do in my own living room. They also do not require any equipment.
Most of my workouts are between 8-20 minutes long. I always warm up on my treadmill first running a mile each time which equates to about 10 minutes for me. I usually do an ab workout later in the night as well.
As mentioned, these workouts do not require any equipment however you do need to download a Tabata Sport Interval Timer app for your phone. Most are free on your app store on your phone.
Here is the app that I have:
You put in the amount of rounds as well as the effort time and pause time. It will beep and turn green when you should go and beep and turn red when you should stop. There are many different Tabata apps out there you just need to find one that you like.
Below are some of my favorite HIIT workouts:
I actually found out about this workout from Tarte's Instagram stories. You still might be able to check it out on there. This workout consists of 5 different movements. You can search on YouTube if you aren't familiar with any of these movements. Each round is one movement. You do that one movement as many times as you can for 30 seconds until you hear the beep to stop. Then you rest for 30 seconds. Once it beeps again you move to the next movement. After you finish all 5 movements you do the whole thing again. This workout is 10 minutes long total but you are resting for half of the time. So really, you are working out for 5 minutes total. Put your all into this it and try not to stop during each round.
Here is what the Tabata Sports Interval Timer should be set to:
I also found out about this workout from Tarte's Instagram stories. It is very similar in format to the last one but is a little shorter. This workout consists of 4 different movements. You can search on YouTube if you aren't familiar with any of these movements. Each round is one movement. You do that one movement as many times as you can for 30 seconds until you hear the beep to stop. Then you rest for 30 seconds. Once it beeps again you move to the next movement. After you finish all 4 movements you do the whole thing again. This workout is 8 minutes long total but you are resting for half of the time. So really, you are working out for 4 minutes total.
Here is what the Tabata Sports Interval Timer should be set to:
You don't need any timer for this one. You just need to get through all the rounds at your own pace. This workout takes me about 20 minutes to complete. I like to check off each round in my notebook after I finish it to physically see my progress to the end of the workout. When I do this workout I don't do abs after as it incorporates a bunch of crunches into the workout.
This workout is similar in format to the first two however, you only get a 10 second rest. You also only have to do one round of each movement. As with the first two workouts, you do as many repetitions as you can of the movement until you hear the beep to rest. Then you hear the go beep to move to the next movement. For step up you can use a step in your house, or small stool, or even a workout step if you have one. For chair dips, I use my couch since I workout in my living room. You can also use a step if you don't have a chair or couch nearby. This workout is 8 minutes long but your are actually working out for 6 minutes.
Here is what the Tabata Sports Interval Timer should be set to:
So those are some of the workouts that I normally do on a weekly basis. I have many that I rotate each week but these are some of my favorites. You need to switch up your workouts because when you do the same workouts every time they become too easy and less effective. Lately, I've been switching things up by doing Booty By Brabants workouts since I have more time on my hands. Her workouts are free on Instagram live and consist of body weight movements such as pushups, lunges, sqauts, etc as well as dance moves. Her workouts are between 30-60 minutes long. They are definitely a challenge and longer than what I am used to but I have been enjoying switching things up and trying something new.
If you have any questions about any of these workouts feel free to leave me a comment below or send me a DM on Instagram.
