Hey Guys,
Today I'm going to share my thoughts on my BoxyCharm Premium for April! For those of you unfamiliar with BoxyCharm, it is a monthly beauty subscription box. You receive 4-5 full sized products each month. The subscription is $25.00 a month and usually has a theme. You are now able to pick one item in your box each month but it is more of a this item or that. Not any item in your box. BoxyCharm Premium is their second subscription offering which is $35.00 a month and you get 6-7 full sized products. You are able to pick one item from your box. Lastly, they also offer an upgraded box every quarter called BoxyLuxe. This is an additional $28.99 a quarter. I am only currently subscribed to BoxyCharm Premium. The theme for this month was Boxy Vibing or Spring into Boxy. I think there was a bit of confusion on the theme this month as it may have changed. Keep reading to see what I got and to hear my thoughts. Also, make sure to check out the discount codes below for the month!
BoxyCharm Premium April 2020 "Boxy Vibing/Spring Into Boxy"
Smashbox LA Cover Shot Eyeshadow Palette $45.00
BoxyCharm sent out a variation of 3 different eyeshadow palettes and one Farmacy Mask this month. Subscribers would either get the Lunar Beauty Life's A Drag Palette, PUR x Barbie Palette, Smashbox LA Cover Shot Eyeshadow Palette, or the Farmacy Honey Potion Hydration Mask. As you can see, I received the SmashBox palette.
Here is a close up of the palette:
Here are swatches of the palette:
I knew I wanted either the Smashbox Palette or the Lunar Beauty Palette. I wanted to try the Lunar Beauty palette because I hear the formula is really good. I knew I wouldn't wear the brighter shades in that palette. Though the Smashbox eyeshadow formula isn't my favorite this palette is still very beautiful. I love that this palette includes 4 color stories and each are very different. Bold/colorful, warm tones, neutral tones, and cool tones. My favorite color stories in this palette are the middle two but there are shadows I like from each story. I also think its really cool that this palette comes with a full sized eyeliner. I was pretty happy to get this palette and have been happy with the looks that I have created so far.
Becca Cosmetics Luminous Blush in Dahlia $34.00
I chose this as my choice product because I honestly didn't like the other options. I knew there were color variations and I was hoping to get one of the lighter two blushes. Instead I got the darkest blush which is far too dark for my skintone. It might work in the summer but I used it the other day applying it VERY lightly and I looked like a clown. I will either try it out again in the summer or pass it on to someone with a darker skin tone. I was also very disappointed in the fact that they had Premium Choice before that they announced that they were featuring the Natasha Denona Blush Duos in the box. Had I known that I would have not picked the Becca blush for Choice. I was bummed that I didn't get one of those blushes as they are higher end. I've wanted to try Natasha Denona products for a while now.

Wander Beauty Mile High Club Mascara $26.00
I was actually pretty pumped to see this mascara in my box. I have already received this a while back in a different box and really liked the mascara. I like the wand on this mascara and it does a great job at lengthening and separating my lashes. I just got rid of the old one and am happy I now have a replacement.
Juice Beauty Phyto Pigments Liquid Lip in Cameron $24.00
I get so annoyed every time BoxyCharm sends me a lip product that is bright pink or red. My beauty profile clearly states I like nude/neutral lip products yet they always send me bright pinks or dark wine colors which I rarely ever wear. This is no different. I will be passing this along. On another note the base box featured a Dose of Colors Lip It Up satin lipstick and I would have much rather received that in my box.
Lavido Age Away Replenishing Cream $65.00
I was pretty bummed that I got this moisturizer as well. I really do not like getting skincare in my box at all because I have so much of it already. A cleanser or mask every now and then is one thing but I do not like getting serums and moisturizers especially since the take quite a while to use up. You don't use a different moisturizer every day like you could with a mask or cleanser. I have also noted in my beauty profile that I do not want skincare. I will be passing this on.
Opulent Beauty Crystal Clear 3 Piece Brush Collection $40.00
In the past I have said you can never have too many brushes. I no longer believe that. I have been subscribed to BoxyCharm for almost 4 years now and I can definitely say that I have way too many brushes. I get them far too often in my BoxyCharm and have got them a few times in my Ipsy Glam Bag as well. I have to many brushes that I have a bunch put aside for giveaways. These will go into that pile. I also feel like they seem super cheap to be in a BoxyCharm box. They remind me of the brushes that come in a value set at Walmart during the holidays.
TOTAL VALUE: $234.00
MARCH PROMOTIONS
4/1/20-5/8/20
Overall, I was pretty disappointed in this months BoxyPremium. Was it worth the $35.00 price tag? Yes, of course. However, the only items that I was happy about were the SmashBox palette and the Wander Beauty mascara. I do not think the variations were fair or equal and actually think the base box was much better this month. I am hoping that May is a better month. So far I got to pick for Premium Choice and chose the Too Faced Chocolate Gold Soleil Bronzer. Again, wasn't blow away by the choice products but hopefully the rest of the products surprise me! If not, I may be cancelling this subscription all together.
