Hey Guys,
Today I wanted to share my thoughts on the new e.l.f. Cosmetics Bite Sized Eyeshadows. I have a trip planned for the Spring and I was debating whether or not to pick up some of the Natasha Denona mini palettes. I then came across these and decided to pick some up since I heard good things and they are only $3.00 each! Keep reading to see swatches and hear what I thought about the ones that I purchased.
e.l.f. Cosmetics Bite Sized Eyeshadows $3.00
Here is what is said about this product on the e.l.f. website:
"These palettes deliver mini eye magic in a perfect size. The luxe formula is creamy, blendable, & ultra-pigmented.
Why we love:
- 8 ultra-pigmented palettes
- A mix of matte & shimmer shades
- Easily blendable formula
- Perfect size for travel"
Here are the shades that I picked up and my thoughts on each:
Cream & Sugar
This is the basic/everyday palette of the bunch. The mattes aren't bad but the shimmers are amazing. This is my favorite palette from the ones that I picked up.
Pumpkin Spice
If you are a fan of warm neutrals you will like this palette. The shimmers are awesome. Again the shimmers out perform the mattes. This is my other favorite of the quads that I picked up.
Rose Water
This palette wasn't as pigmented as I expected it to be but maybe it was just me?
Truffles
The taupe shimmer leans more on the silver side to me and didn't perform as well as some of the other shimmers from other palettes. Maybe the palettes are inconsistent? I've seen others speak highly of this palette.
These mattes are definitely more build-able just like the mattes in the other palettes. The three mattes in this palette work great as transitions shades.
Overall, I think that these palettes are pretty good for the price. I paid around $2.40 for each. The Ulta website was out of stock in a few of these so I purchased directly from the e.l.f. site. They offered quite a bit of coupons which you can stack which is a big plus. I think I stacked a % off with a $ off. I could have also picked a free gift but the one that I wanted was no longer available when I went to check out. Either way, I found that my e.l.f. Makeup Remover wipes are $6.00 for a 2 pack (20 wipes in each pack). This is crazy to me considering CVS sells ONE pack for $6.00 which I have been buying all along. I bought a few packs of those and will be purchasing directly from e.l.f. going forward. Back to the shadows....definitely worth trying out for $3 or less. From my experience, quality wise, I think they are not consistent across the board but maybe I am being to harsh on a $3 palette? These are far better than most drug store eyeshadows. The shimmers are very nice. The mattes definitely need to be built up which isn't necessarily a bad thing. My one complaint is that I wish these palettes had more shades so that you could create a full look with one. I personally cannot since not all of the quads have a transition shade. I also have to use a different shadow that I own as a base before I start building on top of it. Of the 5 quads that I picked up I recommend Cream & Sugar and Pumpkin Spice. To sum things up, do I think these quads are amazing? No, but they are pretty darn good given their price. They are also affordable enough for you to grab one (or a few) to try out yourself and form your own opinions.
