Review: Jaclyn Cosmetics Accent Light Duo Highlighter Palette & Brush Set

Today I am going to share my thoughts on some pieces from the new Jaclyn Cosmetics Holiday Collection. After Jaclyn's first product launch was a disaster she credited ALL customers full refunds on their orders. I picked up 6 lipsticks and didn't request or expect a refund. I spent around $100.00 on the lipsticks so I knew I wanted to support her next launch after being refunded. (You can check out my review of her lipsticks HERE). I was surprised and excited when she announced the launch of her Holiday Collection. Even though I was hoping it would be an eyeshadow palette I still planned to support her. Jaclyn launched 2 highlighter palettes, 5 loose highlights, 5 luminous powders, and 3 face brushes. I decided to picked up the Accent Light Duo Highlighter Palette and Brush Set. Keep reading to learn about the products and to hear my thoughts on each!

The Accent Light Highligher Palette came in two shade ranges suitable for different skin tones; The Flash Palette (fair to medium skin tones) and the Flare Palette (medium/tan to deep tones). The Flash Palette includes 4 shades that will all work with fair to medium skintones and The Flare Palette includes 4 shades that will work better for medium/tan to deeper skintones.

On to my thoughts:
The packaging of the palette definitely has a very luxurious and high end feel to it. It's on the heavy side but definitely high quality and beautiful. The mirror is a decent size but I'm not sure if I would travel with it just because its kind of bulky. When it comes to the highlighters, they are soft and blend nicely. They do have more shimmer than I thought they were going to have. I like to mix the colors together to create my own custom highlight. I've been mixing Gleam & Sparks together as well as Gleam & Iced depending on the color scheme that I am going for. Mesmerize is pretty but I haven't really used that one much. All the highlighters apply really nice but they aren't quite as dramatic as I was expecting them to be. When I apply them I feel like I do have to go over them several times to get an intensity that I like. However, I then go over them with blush or powder so that it doesn't look like a straight line of highlight which then takes away a little of the intensity. For all I know I could just be applying them wrong. I want to try applying them with a dampened brush after spraying a little fix plus on there to see if it amps up the intensity. All of that being said, I have been happy with how they have performed overall I just think I am just looking for a tiny bit more intensity. In terms of price, I do think it is a bit overpriced. However, I 'm assuming the packaging was a bit more pricey than regular packing which could explain some of the reasons for the cost. Also, these highlighters are hand pressed in Italy and not made in China or elsewhere where manufacturing costs are lower.

On to my thoughts:

I don't own any highlighter brushes quite like this. I don't really like fan type brushes and this one was different. It was specifically made for this highlighter palette and I was interested in how it would apply the product. The bristles itself are soft and I love the detail on the handle. It applies the product really nice so I am glad that I picked this up. This brush is also cruelty free which I like. I would not purchase this brush alone as I think $20.00 for this brush is too expensive. I would however pay $10.00 which is why I went with the bundle. 

Overall, I think price wise the palette should be more in the $30.00-$35.00 price range. The brushes should be half the price. I think maybe I should have picked up one of the loose highlights to try it out but I am normally not a fan of those. While I do wish the highlighters were a bit more intense and felt the palette was a little pricey, I am still happy with my purchase. Whether you are a fan of Jaclyn and want to support her or are looking for a luxurious highlight palette (that gives you a nice glow but not TOO intense) then you will like this palette. If you want to try her brushes I suggested getting a bundle to bring the cost down.
