Hey Guys,
As most of you know, I decided to take the leap and find other ways to make money off of my passion, beauty. I became a Younique Presenter about two months ago and have been really loving it! I talked about my personal story of why I joined Younique and reviewed their Epic Mascara/Moodstruck 3D Fiberlashes HERE. I also mentioned that I would review their products from time to time on my blog. I am back today to share my thoughts on their Moodstruck Pressed Shadows. Keep reading to hear about these shadows and to see the collection I have built up so far!
These shadows can be purchased as refills, single compacts or in customizable palettes that hold 4, 8, or 25 shadows. This is great for people that always hit pan on only a few colors in pre-built palettes or simply want to pick every color and build their own. The ability to pick what shadows you want in your palette is awesome. The one complaint that I have about these palettes is that they are a soft cardboard material. I wish they were a bit more heavy duty. One thing that I love about these shadows is that each shadow also comes with a color coordinating sticker that says the came of the color and also includes a circle in the middle with the actual color. That way you can stick the stickers on the back of the palette or on the inside so that you know what colors you are using etc.
Below are the prices for each option:
Moodstruck Pressed Shadow Single Compact $18.00
Moodstruck Pressed Shadow Refill $14.00
Moodstruck Pressed Shadow Quad $52.00
Moodstruck Pressed Shadow 8 Palette $99.00
Younique 8 Shadow Palette (empty) $16.00
Younique 25 Shadow Palette (empty) $25.00
In terms of price and sizing, the shadows are 1.8g/0.06 oz and $18.00 for the single compact. This pricing is very similar to MAC's pricing. MAC's is 1.5g/0.05 oz and $17.00 for the single compact.
Here are swatches of the pressed shadows that I currently own:
L-R: Optimistic (metallic ivory), Manipulative (metallic copper), Astute (matte tan), Gingerly (matte caramel), Antsy (metallic champagne), Slick (rose shimmer), Hesitant (matte dusty rose), Fervent (matte burgundy), Discreet (light coral pink satin), Gentle (metallic pink nude), Alive (bright gold shimmer), and Witty (pumpkin orange satin
On to my thoughts:
In terms of price, they aren't the cheapest shadows that I own but they also aren't the most expensive either. They are somewhere in the middle. Since I already compared them to MAC shadows in terms of price, I will also compare them in terms of quality. I own tons of MAC shadows and used them for years. I think these shadows are better quality in terms of pigmentation and blend ability. I have tried MANY MANY shadows over the years from both drug store and high end brands. I have palettes on palettes and these are honestly some of the best shadows that I own. The closest formula wise I can compare these to (mattes included) are the shadows from the Morphe x Jaclyn Hill Palette. These shadows have amazing pigmentation, blend beautifully, and last all day. I honestly consider myself kind of a makeup snob because of my blogging history. I was very surprised at how much I really loved these. I didn't think they were going to be as good as my other shadows from other brands and boy was I wrong. I also really love the customization of these palettes. Overall, I highly recommend the Younqiue Moodstruck Pressed Shadows!
