Hey Guys,
Over the next month or so you will see a bunch of reviews of the Tarte products that were sent to me. I have been trying everything out over the past couple of months and wanted to share my overall thoughts on each. Today I will be sharing my thoughts on the lip products that I recieved. Keep reading to hear more!
Tarte Tarteist Quick Dry Matte Lip Paint in OG $20.00
Here is what is said about this product on the Tarte site:
"A full coverage, transfer-proof liquid lipstick with a quick-dry matte finish. Offers vibrant, opaque color with concentrated mineral pigments in a liquid-to-matte lip paint that dries instantly with no transferring. The featherlight Comfortflex formula means it moves with your lips without drying out, cracking or bleeding. "
OG is considered a greige. It pulls a bit on the purple/mauve side on me. It looks lighter in my swatch above. It's darker in person. I really like this color and don't really have anything exactly like it. In terms of formula, I really love the quick dry matte lip paints. I like the Creamy matte lip paints a bit more as I feel they are a little more comfortable on the lips. However, there are many more shades in this formula. This color is super pigmented and is long wearing. It does need to be reapplied after eating and drinking. I do suggest applying lip balm before wearing as it will help moisturize your lips and prevent your lips from drying out.
Here is a picture of me wearing OG:
Front Row is described as a deep mauve. I consider this more of a reddish brown. To me, Mauve is a purple-ish shade and this isn't purple at all. I think this is a beautiful color and have been wearing it often. I gravitate more towards warm tones and this lip color goes well with may of the looks that I create. Formula wise, its the same as OG. Its comfortable on the lips, long lasting, and doesn't get dry and crackly.

Tarte Rainforest of the Sea Quench Lip Rescue in Rose $19.00
Here is what is said about this product on the Tarte site:
"A moisturizing lip balm in an array of sheer color shades. This tinted lip balm
shields & rescues lips from early signs of aging, while delivering intense
hydration & soft, subtle color. The antioxidant & vitamin-rich lip
quencher is powered by a blend of essential extracts & oils to help restore
the softness, moisture & elasticity that escapes lips over time while
providing a protective antioxidant barrier against daily aggressors. The tinted
everyday formula is vegan friendly & gently melts into skin to smooth over
the look of lip lines with a radiant, dewy finish."
I had never heard or seen this product so I wasn't really excited to try it out. However, now that I've tried it I love it and even bought it in another shade! This is the most moisturizing lip balm I have ever used. Its not a thick formula and applies like butter. It has a subtle mint scent. There is barley any color pay off. I use it in the morning to moisturize my lip while I get ready. I have another one that as a little shimmer to it that I use on days I am wearing little or no makeup.
Tarte Pout Prep Lip Exfoliant $16.00
Here is what is said about this product on the Tarte site:
"A minty lip scrub & treatment balm made
with moisturizing maracuja, shea butter & exfoliating sugar to gently buff
away flakes & treat thirsty lips. Smooths
& preps lips for the perfect pre-lipstick application with suspended raw
sugar granules that microexfoliate & buff away dead skin so your lips can
drink in the goodness – simply buff, rinse, pucker, & repeat! Nourishing
maracuja & shea butter sink deeply into your silky-smooth pout to help
hydrate, firm & protect lips from future drying, cracking or chapping."
Everyone should own a good lip scrub especially during the winter months when your lips get chapped the most. I love the ingredients that includes and the minty scent. Its always best to exfoliate your lips before applying any matte lipstick for the best application.
Here are arm swatches of the lip quench and the two quick dry matte lip paints:
L-R: Rose, OG, and Front Row
Overall, I really loved all of these products and recommend them! Stay tuned for more reviews coming soon!
