Hey Guys,
Today I'm sharing my thoughts on the new Becca Velvet Blurring Primer Perfecting Base. I recieved it free from Influenster for testing and review purposes. There are not many products that I have mixed feelings about. I usually either like/love a product or don't. This one was different. I've been using it for a couple weeks now and I feel very torn on how I feel about this product. Keep reading to learn about this product, its claims, and my opinion on it.
Becca Velvet Blurring Primer Perfecting Base $38.00
Here is what is said about this product on the Becca site:
"A liquid-to-powder blurring primer that instantly vanishes the appearance of pores, fine lines and imperfections. The feather-light formula leaves skin porcelain smooth with an airbrushed finish. This is your holy grail primer – not only does your makeup look better, it lasts longer.
This is the ultimate primer for a long-lasting, airbrushed complexion. The brightening, feather-light, apricot-hued formula is infused with pore-blurring powders that float over skin to diffuse light for a velvety smooth, soft focus finish. Oil-free yet hydrating, the primer helps absorb the appearance of excess oil and extend the wear of makeup, keeping your look fresh and flawless throughout the day. This formula turns from lightweight liquid to powdered perfection in seconds.
This product is infused with sodium hyaluronate to help keep skin hydrated, antioxidant rich vitamin C and E, and soft-focus blurring powders to help absorb the appearance of excess oil. It works on all skin tones and skin types."
On to my thoughts:
As I mentioned above I have had a hard time deciding if I like this primer or not. Instead of giving you a solid yes or no, I'm going to tell you what I like about this product and what I don't like. The first thing that I like right off the bat is that it has a pump. I prefer that over a squeeze tube any day. Next, I love that it is a liquid that dries to a powder finish. I really don't like silicone feeling primers as they feel greasy to me. This primer truly feels like velvet on your face. I do think it gives your face both a smoother makeup application and airbrushes finish. When it comes to things I don't like, I only have a few complaints. The first is that the bottle feels so light almost like its empty. You are told to shake it before you use it which I don't quite understand why. Second, it comes out of the pump inconsistently. Sometimes it comes out nicely other times it squirts out only a little at a time. The last complaint which is my biggest issue is that it claims to blur pores and I don't really see any big difference with this primer. My pores are the biggest flaw I want to hide with a primer so I was disappointed that I didn't see some big noticeable difference with this primer. I'm going to keep wearing this to see if my opinion changes however if I had to base things off my current feelings, I don't think I would purchase this. That being said, I suggest getting a sample before buying to see if it works for you!
