Today I am going to finally share my thoughts on the new ColourPop Matte X formula. I purchased these lippie stix a few months ago but haven't had a chance to review them. I picked up a handful of different colors but next time I think I should only stick to one or two at first. Keep reading to hear my thoughts!
Here is what is said about this new formula on the ColourPop site:
"Matte X Lippie Stix was created to provide high intensity full coverage pigment with one stroke application. This long wearing formula has the smoothest, most velvety glide without any uncomfortable dragging or pulling- it literally melts onto your lips…. With a SUPER matte finish!!! It’s so sexy; we had to give it an X rating! It contains a super special silky powder that gives the lipstick a light weight feel, flexibility on the lips, prevents cracking and drying out. Lips stay looking fresh and vibrant all day! This formula is the MOST matte of any of our Lippie Stix babies! Like our other lippies, it contains Vitamin E, Shea and Avocado Butter (And NO Parabens!)" https://colourpop.com/product/she-bad/
She Bad $5.00
She Bad is a light beige nude. Its not as light in person as it is in the swatch below but I don't think it is as wearable as other nudes. I wish it was either a little bit brown or had a little bit of pink to it. This color looked great on Kathleen Lights so I was hoping that I would like how it looked on me. I don't love this color though.
Back Up is mid tone plum. I think it is a very pretty color! Its a little bit darker in person that the swatch below. This lippie stix was broken when I got it which sucks. I don't know if this formula makes the product more fragile than the others but this is the first time I recieved a broken lippie stix. I don't find myself wearing this color often as I tend to wear more neutral colors on a daily basis.
Bootie $5.00
Bootie is a true orange red. I really love this color! I wish I wore reds more often because I love when I wear them. They are just so high maintenance.
Pillow Talk is a mid tone griege. I always love these type of colors when I see them on people but I always think they look weird on me. I guess gray/beige tones just don't work for me. I have only wore this color once and I just didn't love it on me personally. I may give it another try in the fall.
Cami is a neutral mauve pink. I really like this color. I think it is the most wearable out of all the colors that I purchased. I have been wearing this color the most out of the five as well.
Here are swatches of the Matte X Lippie Stix:
L-R: She Bad, Cami, Pillow Talk, Bootie, & Back Up
Overall, I am not in love with this formula. I had a hard time keeping a clean line when applying these Matte X lippie stix. A lip liner may help but I don't know if it would make a huge difference. As you can see from the pictures, a lot of the lip lines are messy and jagged. These are not as long wearing as they claim and are a little drying. I always find it best to apply a light layer of lip balm before applying these to my lips. I prefer the regular matte and the satin ColourPop formulas over these. My favorites is still the satin lip formula. I wish I only tried one lippie stix in the Matte X formula to see if I liked it. Next time I will only pick up one or two if new formula launches. Its a good think they weren't expensive.
